👯‍♂️ Introducing “Invite Friends” (to Read Lines With You)

We get it. As much as we love our AI voices (and they certainly don’t complain when you make them repeat Page 4 for the nineteenth time), some scenes demand a level of human messiness that code can’t quite capture yet.

Whether it’s a specific comedic beat, a sarcastic jab, or a high-intensity scream, there are moments when you just need a real person on the other end of the line.

That’s why we’ve launched Invite Friends. It’s a hybrid approach to prep: the convenience of an AI line reader paired with the authentic performance of your actual peers.

Why "Invite Friends" Exists

The goal of ScenePartner has always been to make the actor’s life more autonomous. Usually, that means removing the need for a human reader so you can work whenever you want.

However, we realized that for high-stakes self-tapes, actors often face a trade-off:

  • AI Readers: Available 24/7, but can lack emotional nuance.

  • Human Readers: High emotional intelligence, but a nightmare to schedule.

Invite Friends removes the friction. Your friends record their lines on their own time; you use those recordings to rehearse and record your tape on yours. No Zoom lag, no "Can you hear me now?", and no bribing roommates with lukewarm coffee.

How the Workflow Works

We’ve kept the process lean so you can spend more time acting and less time acting as a tech support specialist.

  1. Share the Scene: Tap the "Share" icon on any script in your library.

  2. Assign Roles: Invite your friend and assign them the specific characters you need them to voice.

  3. Asynchronous Recording: Your friend records their lines at their convenience.

  4. Sync & Rehearse: Once they’re done, their audio replaces the AI voice in your scene.

Practical Use Cases for the Modern Actor

While the AI is great for the "heavy lifting" of memorization, this new feature shines in specific scenarios:

  • The Nuanced Comedy: Timing is everything. Having a friend hit a specific punchline helps you find the rhythm of the joke before you hit record.

  • High-Intensity Drama: If a scene requires a character to be crying or shouting, a human performance provides the "energy" you need to react against authentically.

  • The "Roommate Rescue": If you’re tired of asking your non-actor partner to read "just one more take," you can now outsource that task to your actor friends who actually want to do it.

The Best of Both Worlds

By integrating human voices into the ScenePartner interface, you maintain all the features you already use—like the ability to adjust pauses, loop specific beats, and run the scene at 2:00 AM—without sacrificing the "soul" of a human performance.

It’s your prep, your people, and your schedule.

Invite Friends is now live in the app. Give it a spin on your next breakdown and see how a little human touch changes your flow.

Rooting for you,

The ScenePartner Team
